"Street Images 1956" photography exhibition

 

The photography exhibition ”Street Images 1956” was on display outside the Hungarian Embassy’s building between 21 October and 11 November, 2020. The exhibition displayed photographs telling the story of the key moments of the Hungarian revolution of 1956. Amongst the photos several where made by the Swedish photographer Anders Engman. His iconic pictures of the revolution was amongst the first he made professionally and were made in Budapest between the twenty-ninth of october and first of November.

 

 

Other photographers who’s works were on display included Vagn Hansen, Russel Melchers and many others supplied by the Hungarian photo archive. The exhibition was symbolically lit by candles on the 23d, 4th and 10th of November, Commemorating the start of the revolution, the soviet intervention and the end of the conflict.

 

 

 

The exhibition was originally part of an exhibition commemorating the 60-year anniversary of the revolution that was opened at Nybroplan in Stockholm on the 23 October, 2016.
