On 5-6 March 2019 Hungarian wines and gastronomy were in the spotlight. During the wine week organized by the Embassy, András Horkay who holds a WSET diploma on wine and spirit presented high quality Hungarian wines and the colorful Hungarian viticulture in three different events. We presented the rich diversity of „kékfrankos” grape on a wine lunch where we invited journalists, bloggers and sommeliers. We presented the potentials in the „kékfrankos” through a unique menu where the dishes were matched with „kékfrankos” wines of seven different wine region.
In the evening we invited our partners coming from the administration, business and culture to a wine salon to experience the best of Hungarian wines from the most important wine regions in the interpretation of internationally recognized Hungarian winemakers. As a side dish we served Hungarian delicates like craft cheese, mangalica sausage, grey beef salami. The day after the distinguished members of Vinkällaren Grappe wineclub could get an overview about the best wines of some of the major wine regions of Hungary.
We thank András Horkay for the presentations, Niklas Bergquist for his help and advices and we highly appreciate the kind support of Carl Jan Granquist. We are grateful for the sponsorship the Hungarian winemakers who supported our events with their wonderful wines.
