Ambassador Péter Palóczi Presents Letter of Credence

On 30 September 2025 Ambassador of Hungary Péter Palóczi presented his credentials to King Carl Gustav XVI of Sweden.

Ambassador Péter Palóczi presented his credentials to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf at the Royal Palace on 30th September, 2025, thus assuming the office of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Sweden.

The new Ambassador’s work will focus on further strengthening the close ties between Hungary and Sweden as allies in NATO and as partners in the EU. He aims to place special emphasis on several policy areas where Hungarian and Swedish positions are increasingly converging within the EU, including competitiveness, migration, trade, and the reinforcement of the EU's external borders.

As allies in NATO, Hungary and Sweden share important security objectives. This fruitful cooperation in security and defence is exemplified by the Gripen project, which was further strengthened by Hungary's order of four additional fighter jets in 2024. Sweden's accession to NATO offers new opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation, which the Ambassador is eager to pursue.

Hungary and Sweden enjoy dynamic and steadily growing trade relations, with Sweden ranking among the largest investors in Hungary. Our Embassy intends to build on these achievements and further enhance this close partnership.

With a diaspora of roughly 40,000 Hungarians in Sweden, Ambassador Palóczi aims to engage the community as actively as possible through dedicated events that celebrate and preserve the Hungarian language, culture, and traditions. He also intends to showcase Hungary's excellent scientific and cultural achievements to the Swedish public, highlighted by three Nobel Prize laureates in recent years: Katalin Karikó in Physiology or Medicine, Ferenc Krausz in Physics and László Krasznahorkai in Literature.
