Commemorating the 1956 revolution and freedom fight in 2025

On 21 October 2025 our Embassy commemorated the 69th anniversary of the 1956 revolution and freedom fight with a formal reception and outdoor exhibition.

At the commemoration organized for Swedish partners and members of the diplomatic corps, Ambassador Péter Palóczi emphasized the historical significance of the events of 1956 and the importance of freedom and national unity in today's world, placing particular emphasis on Hungarian-Swedish relations, shared values, and cooperation.

To mark our national day, the Embassy of Hungary also organized an outdoor exhibition and reception commemorating the 1956 revolution and freedom fight. During the opening ceremony, the colleagues of the embassy joined by members of the Hungarian community and by some of those who experienced firsthand the 1956 events lit candles to honor the heroes, victims, and all those who bravely stood up for the Hungarian liberty during the October events.
