On 17 November 2017, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán participated at the EU Social Summit for Fair Jobs and Growth in Gothenburg.
The meeting of the EU Heads of State or Government (HoSGs) was hosted by President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. During the summit, HoSGs discussed how to guarantee higher employment rates for European citizens, well-functioning and fair European labour markets as well as effective and sustainable social protection systems and the promotion of social dialogues at all levels. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán highlighted the three pillars of the Hungarian model: achieving full employment and building a work-based economy; solving our workforce and demographic problems through active family policies and not through migration; we want to be flexible with relation to job market regulations, bolstered by tax regulations and dual training. Prime Minister Orbán stressed that our own models must be valued and Hungary does not have any intention to replace its own model.
