To commemorate the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, our Embassy organised a book presentation for the Hungarian community in Sweden on 4 February 2025, during which Georg Sessler's book "The Calvary of Raoul Wallenberg", written in Swedish, was presented.
Thanks to more than two decades of research, "The Calvary of Raoul Wallenberg" reveals new, previously unknown details about Wallenberg's work in Budapest and his disappearance, and seeks to refute earlier allegations that have been wrongly implicated, with or without evidence, in Wallenberg's heroic efforts to save people.
At the sold-out Embassy event, the book launch and book dedication were a great success, and a valuable discussion about Raoul Wallenberg, who connects Hungarian and Swedish history, took place.
