On 8th of May 2018, Ambassador Adrien Müller paid an official visit to the SAAB AB’s centre in Linköping, where the Gripen  multirole fighter aircraft are manufactured that are used by the Hungarian Air Force. Hungary was the first NATO member state that joined the Gripen users’ family. The Hungarian Armed Forces uses 14 Gripens, which strengthens the continuous and intensive military cooperation between the two countries. Vice-president Jerker Ahlquist, who is responsible of the Gripen program, received the ambassador. Ahlquist gave an insight to the fluent and mutually beneficial cooperation between SAAB and the Hungarian Armed Forces. The parties’ reviewed the lessons learned from operating the Gripens along with the possible fields of further cooperation between SAAB and the Hungarian Armed Forces. Later Ambassador Adrien Müller had the opportunity to take a glimpse at how the Gripens are manufactured. The Ambassador also was briefed on the future developments of the SAAB Company and their goals in connection with the Central-European region. SAAB is the most significant company in the defence industry of Sweden, which based on NATO standards and procedures is open to cooperate with all member states in the field of national defence industry developments or procurement. Ambassador Adrien Müller was accompanied by Brigadier General Nándor Kilián, the Defence Attaché and Major Péter Molnár Assistant Defence Attaché.

 

Before visiting the SAAB factory in Linköping, Ambassador Adrien Müller met with Micael Johansson Deputy CEO and Senior Executive Vice President of SAAB to mutually elaborate the experiences of the Gripen program and to exploit further fields of cooperation.
